Forced Hindi imposition is forcing non-Hindi Indian government employees to learn Hindi under threat of disciplinary action. That is direct Hindi imposition.
Hindi is imposed by subtle indirect means too: make life difficult if you do not know Hindi or English. An example is posting Hindi safety posters in trains. Another example is Hindi in bank ATMs and bank deposit forms. Too many Hindi programmes in government run television in non-Hindi states is yet another example. Hindi is thrust into non-Hindi areas through everything that Indian government touches, for examples, nationalized banks, Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), Indian Railways, National Highways, Air India, Government Television (Doordharsan) and Central Security Forces posted in non-Hindi states.
